Frequently Asked Questions
Is it possible to place a single order for multiple siblings?
Yes. Click on “Got another access code?” You can enter up to five access codes at the same time. This way you will have access to all available photos and can place a single order. If you choose Ship to Home (shipping from the lab directly to your address), this will help you save on shipping costs.
How do I access my student’s photos?
Each student receives an Access Code Card within a day or so of the photos being captured.
Scan the QR code or enter the unique Access Code on the Gallery Homepage to unlock your private gallery.
If you’ve lost the code, ask your school office or email us at info@schoolpix.ca. For security, we’ll request your student’s full name, division, and a brief description of what they wore on photo day. Each code is unique and changes yearly.
If you did retakes, we may not send a new card home. Please contact the school or email us if you no longer have your card/Access Code.
How do retakes work? What if my child missed photo day?
If you’d like retakes, please complete our Retake Request Form at least 48 hours before your date (date available on your school calendar or within your gallery).
If your child missed the original day, no request is needed – we’ll coordinate with the school to include them.
Note: retake images are added to a new gallery. Orders can be made from either the original or retake gallery, but not combined.
How long will the delivery take?
Delivery time depends on payment processing, the products you’ve ordered, and the delivery method. All payments must be confirmed before your order can be processed.
Batch orders are collected and sent to our lab each Sunday at 11:59 PM. Items are delivered to the school about 2.5 weeks after each batch closes.
If you would like your printed images sooner, consider the Ship to Home option (prints are shipped from the lab to your home) for an additional fee.
If you need your images right away, select Digital Download files. Images are available immediately and can be printed at any local lab (many offer next-day service).
Can I order after the deadline?
Yes. Galleries remain open through the school year. Late orders can still be placed, but please note:
Free school delivery (Batch Orders) may no longer be available.
Ship to Home (paid shipping from the lab) is typically the only option.
Delivery times may be longer compared to orders placed before the cutoff.
Digital Downloads remain available throughout the year.
What happens if my order arrives damaged?
If your order arrives with a printing error or damage, we will replace it. Please contact us at info@schoolpix.ca with your order details and a photo of the damage.
For Batch Orders delivered to the school:
Orders are delivered in bulk to the school office.
Teachers then distribute them to classrooms.
If your student tends to bend or damage items in their backpack, we recommend sending a rigid folder to school in advance and asking the teacher to help protect the prints during transport.
Do you provide a printed class photo?
Instead of a single printed class photo, we provide a gallery of class images.
It’s nearly impossible to capture a single photo where all the students have their eyes open, so we provide families with a selection to choose from.
Class photos are added to the individual galleries about 48 hours after the class photo day each spring. Families can select their favorite image(s), download the digital files, back them up, and print in whatever size they prefer.
Many families prefer this flexibility over receiving a single print where their student may be the one not looking.
Is the logo (watermark) removed from the image?
Yes. The watermark is only used to deter unpaid downloads. Watermarks are annoying and we don’t like them any more than you do, but they protect our work from AI removal and unauthorized printing.
For class photos, our system doesn’t distinguish between the paid and free images so everything gets watermarked. The good news is that all of the class photos are free to download. If you are having trouble seeing faces in the group images, download a few options and view them in full resolution with no watermarks at all.
Why are there so many similar photos?
We spend extra time with each student to capture a variety of natural expressions, not just one or two standard smiles.
Parents know their children best – sometimes the difference between a half smile and a full smile makes all the difference.
For some students, taking a few extra shots helps them relax and feel comfortable instead of feeling pressured to “get it perfect” in one snap.
Within the mix of images, our goal is always to capture one (or two) genuine smiles you’ll love.
What is the quality of prints?
Prints are created at a professional Canadian photo lab. We are committed to delivering the best quality images and experience. If you are not satisfied with any aspect of our products or service, please reach out and we’ll make it right.
Can I crop the images?
Yes. During checkout you will be asked to confirm the final crop of your printed images.
If you ordered Digital Downloads, they are provided in a full-resolution file that can be printed up to 10x13 in most cases. This allows enough resolution to crop digital files as needed for the most common print sizes.
Can I change the background?
We use a clean, white studio backdrop with our photos for consistency and flexibility:
- White seamless allows for a variety of expressive poses including full-body.
- Green screen limits us to waist-up and often leaves halos around hair during post-processing.
- By using a consistent background, we can capture and include more high-quality photos in each gallery.
If you’d like to customize your background:
- Consider our Digital Download products that can be edited with various phone apps to swap backgrounds, add text, or apply filters.
- You are welcome to use any of our free background files.
- We have a Photoshop Edit service available within the online shop for professional retouching including background changes.
We focus on capturing genuine smiles, not swapping backdrops.
